Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce to move

The Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce will move temporarily to downtown's Fifth Third Bank building while it waits for the new Stadium District building to be completed.

The business group has leased the third floor of a 38,700-square foot building at 300 E. Michigan Ave., but its 10-year lease expires this month. It will move by today and Friday into the seventh floor of the 50,000-square-foot Fifth Third building at 112 E. Allegan St., which was bought in August 2006 by Lansing-based Boji Group.

The holes in the exterior of downtown's Hollister Building are not a sign of its demise.

Rather, they're the beginning of an effort by Ron Boji to turn the face of the building at Washington Square and Allegan Street in downtown Lansing into a more trendy facade.

Boji's Boji Group bought the 1893 structure a year ago. At the first crack of spring, crews will tear off the modern brick facade covering the first two floors of the Hollister Building and replace it with a 1950s-style glass and limestone physique, the developer said.

The owner of Lansing's tallest structure has bought a fourth office building within three blocks of the state Capitol.
Boji Group, which owns the 25-story Boji Tower, is expected to announce today that it has completed a deal for a 50,000-square-foot building at 112 E. Allegan St., at Grand Avenue.

Developer Ron Boji is offering a glimpse of his plans to turn downtown Lansing's Hollister Building into a mix of retail, office and residential space.
Boji, Mayor Virg Bernero and city economic development officials were scheduled this morning to offer an overview of the project, which will use a series of local, state and federal redevelopment incentives.
